Maya Fawaz is an award-winning audio producer based in Texas.

She's currently a producer for Click Here, a weekly podcast and public radio show about the people making and breaking our digital world. She started her career reporting for Austin's NPR station, KUT, and she attended the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies for Audio Storytelling.

Her reporting has taken her to neighborhoods bracing for the construction of data centers, the cemetery of Austin's legendary "cedar choppers” and a depleted aquifer in the heart of the Hill Country. For NPR, she reported on university dorm shortages across the country and an ongoing attempt to break a Guinness World Record by people named Kyle.

She once spent all night at a 911 call center for 24 Hours in Austin, which won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

Her piece, Before it Gets Here, won the AAJA Excellence in Audio Storytelling award. She reported from Wabanaki tribal land, where people are grappling with the loss of ash trees — a key material used in indigenous basket making.
